My updated webpage is now ready to go public. It has been updated (by Glen Hawksworth of Technology Penguin) so as to incorporate my latest publication, Love, Death, the Cosmos, and the Kitchen Sink, including direct links to sites where you can buy the book. And my earlier books.
In line with this purpose, the header (or home page) has been changed. It is now based on the above photo which, as a consequence of digitization, has turned out to have more of the qualities of an impressionist painting than those of a photo. It depicts my late beloved partner of 33 odd years, Janet Ward.
Love, Death, etc. is a compendium of some of my blogs in the period when Janet was still alive and enthralling me every single day of my life. It also covers her death and its aftermath for me. Compiling it helped me stay sane at a very bad time in my life. I am still grieving Janet, and the above picture inevitably sends tears to my eyes. I count myself lucky to have been gifted those 33 wonderful years with such a wonderful person. There are some not so lucky as I who have not been so gifted.
I am listening as I type to the remarkable 24 Preludes and Fugues of Dimitri Shostakovitch played on the piano by Tatiana Nikolayeva. This music is entirely appropriate to the reminiscences I am experiencing, putting me squarely in the intense meditative framework allowing them to happen. And reminiscence should be allowed to happen. They, and photos like the above, are what I have left of Janet. I treasure them.
