Very soon, so soon it might already have happened, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will meet up, probably one-to-one, in Alaska. So let me make a prediction, in my capacity as clairvoyant extraordinaire, or perhaps as someone with an overactive imagination ready to take you on a wild ride, as to how things might transpire or have transpired.
Imagine …
It should not be too long before things go pear-shaped. Trump has a propensity to get verbally (and sometimes physically) violent. If he does not get his way, he could threaten to hand Putin over to the ICC (the International Criminal Court in The Hague) even though the USA is not a member of this august body. The hounds of law might soon be drawn unexpectedly into the brouhaha.
And/or Trump might just break Putin’s jaw..
Putin would have a different approach. Watch his sleight of hand with the novichok especially if food and/or drink and/or underpants are on hand. Before too long, Trump could be asking, Do you know who I am? This would not be a rhetorical question, nor would it be asked in the belligerent tone characteristic of the man. It would be, uncharacteristically, a desperate plea for help: “Who the fuck am I?’
So, the pair might soon be departing Alaska. Putin, with possible broken jaw, might be heading for The Hague, to answer some questions. Doubtless, there would be preliminary scuffles at Anchorage International Airport.
Trump might be heading for one of those German hospitals that specializes in treating novichok cases.
Let’s join Vlodymyr Zelenskyy in wishing both of them well.
